TitelYardage, known as ajarakh (from the Arabic azrak, "blue") - C
BeschrijvingAjarakh from Rajasthan, like those from Gujarat, are patterned yardage worn at weddings by Muslim males or made into clothing for local use and export. Their patterns are entirely geometric, forming interlocking rosettes in red, blue and black on an off-white ground. Their manufacture is similar to that of Gujarat ajarakh. These fabrics had a tremendous impact on Southeast Asian textiles, especially Indonesian batiks featuring geometric designs.
