[nb-NO]Description[nb-NO]Ng Eng Teng (1934 – 2001) is recognised as one of Singapore’s most prolific modern sculptors. The largest collection of his sculptures, paintings and sketches are held at the NUS Museum, National University of Singapore. Although known as a sculptor and ceramist, his early art education was directed towards the study of painting. Portraiture was among the subject matter of his academic pursuits, and these early works clue influences from his teacher and mentor Georgette Chen, and laid the foundation for his later sculptural rendering of the human figure. Drawing and sketching remained a distinct and significant medium throughout Ng’s practice.
