[nb-NO]Description[nb-NO]CARVED LACQUER HU and stand, the hu being modelled on the ancient bronze with pear-shaped body tapering mildly at the top to form a slightly waisted large neck; the cinnabar lacquer deeply carved all over with two garden scenes, in two large tear-drop-shaped panels, complete with trees, flowering plants, rockery, etc., amidst which a group of elders seen engaged in leisurely scholarly pursuits; the mouth festooned with a row of shield-like patterns filled with geometrical floral design, similar treatment, but with foliated borders for two segmental frames, accorded to the base surrounding the low, stout foot, even the latter being decorated with hui-motif scroll; outside all these framed decorative elements the ground being fully covered with lotus and other floral scrolls, similarly for the exterior surfaces of the five-legged stand; all interior surfaces have black lacquer finish.
