CreatoreFoo Chee San (1965)
DescrizioneSingapore River by Foo Chee San is a landscape print of a historical landmark located in the heart of a developing metroplolis. The development that surrounds the river today has been an important aspect of Singapore's history. In the past, Singapore River buzzed with commercial activity operating from the main port at the mouth of the river which contributed to the successful economic growth of the young immigrant society. Surrounded by markets, shophouses and warehouses, many traders and distributors operated their businesses along the river transporting their goods on bumboats and 'sampans' (small wooden boats). In the print we can see landscape of these boats docked in the river with the iconic image of shophouses emerging from the background. An identical piece as S1980-0840-001-0, but with the background treated distinctly with the same clarity as the boats in the foreground.
