DescriptionThe artist Huang Yao began his artistic career as the author of a series of comics featuring the character Niubizi which he created in 1934. The Second Sino-Japanese War forced him to leave China and his sojourns in Southeast Asia eventually brought him to Malaysia, where he produced Chinese ink paintings based on local Malaysian scenes.
