DescriptionJodhpuri chundari (spotted head veil) purchased by William Willets on a field trip to India. In Rajasthan turban cloihs with bandana patterns were traditionally worn by men at festivals, and the red chundari (spotted head veil) often features in India poetry, as worn by a woman when meeting her lover. Red dye on white cotton. Patterned by tie-dye technique.
Bandhani is an Indian tie-dye technique, sometimes called ‘chunari’ in Gujarat.
