TitreHoba (women’s hip wrap, ceremonial gift)
DescriptionThe skirt of the Nage Keo women of the Boawai district is composed of three panels. The two identical, predominantly maroon bands form a symmetrical tri-partite design with the contrasting indigo central panel. A few pinkish supplementary weft threads run transversely across from selvage to selvage in the middle and near the ends. The ikat bands feature simple jelamprang motifs reserved off-white on an indigo ground.
Rare, probably early 20th century, complex design, natural dyes.
