TitreVictoria Falls
CréateurHuang Junbi 黄君壁
DescriptionIn 1969 Huang Junbi travelled to South Africa where he held a painting exhibition at the Cape Town Museum. This journey also introduced him to the magnificent scenery of the Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. Here, the brush strokes serve a representational function. The viewpoint he adopts on the waterfalls is based on his knowledge of European linear perspective. Some photographs of the waterfalls also show a similar viewpoint. Huang Junbi was often considered as a "traditionalist". However, this work confirms that he explored realistic representation in Chinese ink painting by incorporating foreign techniques.
