DescripciónA close-up view from a height of two tenement blocks that fill up the picture space except for a narrow strip at the bottom which is the street. Light filters in from the left. It is a practically empty street except for the girl in red looking at some objects on a makeshift stall. Another figure is seen walking away to the right. A half hidden figure stands within the door on the lighted side of the building while another looks down from a window on the upper floor. An atmosphere of social decadenee prevails. It is a gloomy picture. Is the artist trying to highlight the plight of the less well-offs in our society. That seems to be the message spelt out.
