TítuloOTOSOS #5 (On The Other Sides Of Silence)
CreadorTeo Eng Seng (1938)
Descripción“Ever ready to make a statement, OTOSOS #5, which stands for On the Other Side of Silence Number 5, Eng Seng presents a work that breaks down the boundaries between two-dimensional and three-dimensional art. Maintaining the integrity of the flatness of paintings, so cherished by artists such as Jackson Pollock, is clearly not Eng Seng's concern. Instead, Eng Seng, who publicly announced his abandonment of painting, challenges the domination of painting over the visual arts with his OTOSOS series with its textured surfaces and deep depressions.
Eng Seng's adoption of Chinese symbols is evident in OTOSOS #5 . The imprint made by a Chinese clog further accentuates popular Chinese idioms in his artworks, invoking traditional beliefs and values.”
