DescripciónAt the onset of the Malay Heritage Centre renovation/ revamp occasion (2022-2025), the institution is removing legacy objects. A set of this consists of 39 boat models donated by Mapletree as well as other purported visiting delegates for the Centre’s permanent galleries from 2013-2022. The conception of these boats was made through the former Maritime Museum, commissioned by Eric Alfred (between late 70s to early 80s) while some are speculated to have been late in the 1990s. There are speculations that these models are based off photographs by Gibson-Hill and the model makers being craftsmen/ boat makers identified by Alfred (boat makers from the southern islands taking occupation at the Maritime Museum as well as projects instituted by the Baharuddin Vocation Institute.
These boats have been on permanent display at the Air (Water) gallery of the Malay Heritage Centre.
