TítuloPair of surname lantern with “feng zheng da fu” and “huang fu” (1 of 2)
DescripciónThe pair of lanterns at the verandah is designed with four panels of alternating calligraphy and pictorial illustrations. The characters 黄府 (huang fu) declare the site to be the mansion of the Wee (黄) family. Such lanterns on which the surname of a family is painted have been referred to as ‘surname lanterns’.
These lanterns are reproductions on which are painted the Wee family name (left) and the Qing official rank (right) of 奉政大夫 held by Wee Siang Tat of the family’s third generation.
