BeschreibungA PAIR OF PAINTED POTTERY HORSES with Riders, both heads slightly bowed with arched necks, short tails dressed; riders and horses in upright position, one ridden by the male figure (a) being somewhat taller; both beasts strongly potted in majestic grandeur with sturdy legs standing on fours, dispensing with the usual slab base, belly open showing hollow body; the thick manes, described by moulding and incising, parted in front and flowing down both sides of the massive neck; trappings, like saddlery, being moulded, applied or painted with black and red. (a) maled rider, wearing black headgear tied at the back, seated upright, arms folded on chest, hands, concealed by long-sleeved tunic (grey), holding a red tablet, like a gui; his attired complreted by breeches and black jack-boots; (b) Female figure with hairdo in a oyramidal bun, long-sleeved blouse (grey), ankle-length red skirt, right hand folded on the chest
