TitleLacquer hard pillow with double phoenix and double dragon designs on ends
DescriptionThe pillows are made of a pliant material, probably bamboo, on which a thick layer of red lacquer is applied. The construction is essentially a hollow rectangular box with its longer edges bent into a gradual concave curve for resting the neck. There are illustrations of dragons on one end of the pillows and phoenixes on the other. (NUS Baba House, Architecture and Artefacts of a Straits Chinese Home, Page 103)
