Bibliography:Tan Teo Kwang's foundations in art began as a student at Chinese High School where he was taught by Chen Wen Hsi, Chen Chong Swee and Cheong Soo Pieng. He left Singapore in 1962 for further art education at St. Martin's School of Art in London, graduating in 1967. Considering himself an abstract expressionist, Mr Tan did not abandon his Chinese roots, but endeavoured to meld ancient Chinese philosophy and concepts with contemporary practice in his works.
Описание“The virtuosity of executing the Chinese calligraphic form is retained in this work and given an invigorating treatment with the artist 's choice of acrylic, highlighting the artist's dual cultural sensibilities. Full of vigour, the dominant rotund form relates to the sparseness of the canvas about it through the idiom of abstraction dealing with space and form. Bold in composition, Prosperity advances conventional appreciation of both the traditional and the new.” (Crossroads: The Making of New Identities, Page 27).
