TitleNamwood Red & Gold Bridal Cupboard
DescriptionA two-tier red-and-gold cabinet. The top cabinet is supported on legs fashioned as a dragon resting on a lion-dog, while the lower cabinet sits on scrolled feet.
Two-tier cabinets have no provision for hanging. They are designed with only shelves and are suitable for the Asian tradition of folding clothes for storage.
The cabinet handles are in the shape of the character 寿 (shou), meaning longevity. The handle of the drawer is shaped like the ancient Chinese square-footed spade coin (fang zu bu, 方足布) and inscribed with the character 财 (cai) meaning wealth.
