TitleMalam Kenduri (Night Feast)
CreatorMastura Abdul Rahman
DescriptionThis appears to be the interiors of Muslim houses with their roofs removed as seen from a great height directly above. It is notable for its unusual angled viewpoint, its luscious colour scheme and the luxuriant detailed patterns on floors and upright panels. As the title suggest, it is indeed a sumptuous night feast, visually. It is fine example of modern Islamic art.“In ‘Malam Kenduri’ (Night Feast), 1997, Mastura Rahman fabricates interior of houses, projecting them in axonometric perspectives; from great heights we see the interiors that are completely available to sight, and depicted in minute detail. The design and its detail, simulate motifs on textiles. Seeing is transformed into a resplendent feast.” (Past, Present , Beyond: Re-nascence of an Art Collection, Page 65)
