It consists of four lines, with seven characters in each. The first two lines capture the exhilaration of the poet upon realising his lifelong dream of climbing Mt Taishan: "For decades I gaze at Mount Taishan, the Eastern Mountain, from afar/ What sheer excitement and exquisite joy it is to finally climb the mountain with friends today!" The next two lines depict the view before the poet: "The path up the mountain is extremely steep, with 7,000 stones steps/ We constantly turn around to marvel at our ascent." Wang's calligraphic style is bold, robust and rustic, bearing the hallmarks of his teacher, Wu Changshuo's art. His training in Jinshi script (bronze vessel script) and Shiguwen script (Stone Drum Script) is evident in the formulation of his brushstrokes.
