TitleAncestral plaque
DescriptionThe term 追逺 (zhui yuan) is a reminder to have reverence for one’s ancestors. It is from the phrase 慎终追远 (shen zhong zhui yuan) in the Analects of Confucius (Lun Yu, 论语), which advises on exercising the utmost diligence in attending to the funerary rites of one’s parents and to honour one’s ancestors.
