TitleHead of a Bodhisattva (1 set)
DescriptionWHITE MARBLE HEAD OF BODHISATTVA in high relief, on a roughly oblong block, evidently hacked from a much larger block -- may be a stele; in this case only the head is intact together with part of the shoulders, slightly turned right, a plumbish female face, typical of mid-Tang sculpture of this class, with closed slanting eyes and full lips, an enigmatic expression on the face, framed by rolls of hair gathered backwards and upwards into a bun tied with a floral diadam in front and pendulant ribbons at the sides only that part down the left is visible; the edges of the base are jaded.
